Another week has come to a close and you’re staring at a to-do list with too many to-dos left to do (say that five times fast!) For most of us, our ministry is our passion and not our full-time job, which means it can often get pushed to the bottom of our priorities. Work, home, family – if it’s not one thing, it’s another.
So how do we move our passion back up the priority ladder? Believe it or not, there are ways to make the most of some downtime and lost time to regain your momentum. Check out our list of Top 5 Ways To Be Intentional In Your Ministry.
- MAKE A NETWORKING “HITLIST”
Find out about all the relevant events, trainings, and meetings in your area and decide which ones are most worth your time to attend. Then go with the purpose of making at least one strategic connection. Be sure to follow up with that connection after the fact – follow up is critical! - TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DRIVE-TIME
Turn on a leadership podcast while in the car. Then use your voice memo phone app to record aha moments. Starting your day with something positive and uplifting will stay with you all day. You’ll be motivated and efficient at work, marking those items off your task list. - ALWAYS HAVE AN AGENDA
When leading a small group or meeting, always create an agenda to keep you on point and make sure all important info is covered – even if you are the only one who sees it. It’s easy to get off topic when you’re having an engaging discussion, but you don’t want to leave the meeting wondering if anything was actually accomplished. That’s not a good use of anyone’s time. - THINK AHEAD
End the week by reviewing your upcoming week, getting mentally prepared for what’s ahead. Make sure your calendars are synced up, Note any openings you need to fill, or overcrowded days where tasks can be shifted. This allows you to act rather than react to changes as they come (and they will). - RHYTHM, NOT BALANCE
The idea of finding balance in life is often a pipe dream. Instead of chasing an unattainable state, try to find a rhythm instead. When you’re in busier seasons of life, find the momentum and accomplish those goals!
Don’t let the idea that if you can’t do it all you can’t do anything stop you from pursuing the desire God planted in your heart. It just takes some intentional planning to make it work.
